ALADI (Asociación Latinoamericana de Integración) has established a new integration environment for Digital Certificates of Origin (COD – Certificado de Origem Digital). Instead of paper, COD uses XML files digitally signed by the manufacturer and exporter.

This change reduces costs and increases productivity for the exporter, but it also increases Customs inspections,

as it receives more detailed information. With COD, the Certification Entities now demand a high level of compliance to issue the certificate to their exporters.
